## When to use Direct Audio [#when-to-use-direct-audio]

The Direct Audio feature allows you to ingest audio directly from your computer's sound card.

This is useful when you're working with a digital mixer or a professional external audio interface and want to send high-quality audio to Line 21 for Automatic Speech Recognition.

## App Audio vs. Browser Audio [#app-audio-vs-browser-audio]

The Direct Audio feature in the Line 21 App works similarly to the [ASR web page](/docs/feeds#asr-page).

However, the desktop app provides a more direct connection to your audio devices and is especially useful if you want to keep the audio pipeline isolated from your browser environment.
